"Beefing Down"

This video was shot "guerrila-style" in and around Mount Washington and Northeast LA back in 1998. If you live in LA you may notice parts of the Southwest Museum and downtown LA as backdrops. "Beefing Down" is a tongue-in-cheek, "what if" short film that I wrote, directed and edited. It was inspired by news stories that were coming from England at the time about mad cow disease.

Derek Medina did a great job with the lead role - he was faxed the script
the night before we shot this because my original choice for the lead dropped out at the last minute.
He held it all together under extreme pressure with his strength as an actor.

Andrea Jungert played Lily like a pro, with great style and wit and was always up to trying anything we needed her to do. She provided great moral support too, which is so needed
when you are trying to create a short film.

Michael Duarte was also cast at the last minute and had never acted before in anything. I wish that I had more time to work with him on his character but I think in the end he did great and by adding his own brand of humor to the proceedings he created some memorable moments in the film.

Paul Rudolph created the score and his music was nothing short of awesome!
It transformed this little movie into something worth watching.

Hopefully you will agree.
